Description

This one of a kind book was made using a lot of background infos from the client. At the start of the project, the idea for the style of the book was a mix between a WWII relic and an old book from Lord of the Rings. Most of the ideas and concepts are from original ideas and world created by the customer! It was a real pleasure to create this book!

The central crystal insert was created based on a sketch from customer. The small bottle is filled with fragments of Fay shells. The claw was something I had in my ramdom "oddities" box in my shop for a while. It was part of a native american necklace found at a yard sale years ago. I thought it was some cheap resin replica, but while looking for a way to fix the claw on the book, I realise it was a genuine claw. Probably something from a Lynx.

The modern shell on the bottom will be replace by a vintage WWI soviet shell owned by the client.

The idea behind "Lodestone: A soldier's Journal" is to give the book the feeling of being carried around a lot, broken pieces, patched corners, scratches and weathering of the leather. The relics came from a strange place called "The wyld"... A fictional world where only the bravest people manage to came back alive. A world filled with strange creatures only the owner of this book manage to illustrate.

This book is also my first try on the Dieselpunk movement. It is really similar to Steampunk, only with less gears and more oil! Love this style, I'm gonna try another Dieselpunk book someday!
